Review

Rating: 8

This book was quite good, very thorough. Jared Diamond explores mostly the effect of geography on cultures since the beginning of civilization and theorises why some cultures excelled and came to rule while others were conquered and disappeared from history or lingered into modern times.

I found the book somewhat simplistic at the beginning and Mr. Diamond often went into detail as to why his views were not racist, which I thought was unnecessary, but as I progrssed I found his insight to be very confincing. In the end, his view is that advancement of societies are almost completely controlled by environmental influences. I recommend this book, although a condensed version might have been preferred.
